A couple weeks ago, I started feeling a void. I was feeling spiritually lonely. I knew that I needed to change some of my habits, so that I could draw closer to my Heavenly Father. In addition to making goals for scripture study, prayer and other things, I immediately started searching online for LDS books that would help me rekindle the spiritual fire that I have felt previously in my life.
This book is one of my findings. It arrived yesterday & I’m already in love with it. It’s simple, it’s short, & it reminds you of your divine potential as one of Heavenly Father’s children. President Uchtdorf talks about 5 different things that we should never forget. It is written for women specifically, but it can easily apply to all of our lives.
Clint & I read it together last night. We would pause & talk about ways that we could better our home, our relationship, our habits, etc.
“God wants to help us to eventually turn all of our weaknesses into strengths, but he knows that this is a long term goal. He wants us to become perfect, & if we stay on the path of discipleship, one day we will. It’s okay that you’re not quite there yet. Keep working on it, but stop punishing yourself.”
Every single one of us is a work in progress. We all have ways to learn & grow. Perfection is quite impossible to achieve in this life.
But through this little book, the quote that hit me the most was this:
“He who created and knows the stars knows you and your name — you are a daughter of His kingdom.
The One who created & knows all things knows me by name. He knows my strengths, my weaknesses, my desires, & he was & is thinking about me when I struggle & when I’m in need of guidance & hope. I may feel alone, but there is in no way that I am alone. He has promised that he will be by my side, & the Lord does not break His promises.
Our Heavenly Father, if we let him, is our best friend. We can confide & talk to him about everything good & bad, & he will help guide us through the obstacles & trials of this life, if we strive to be nearer to him.
