Hayes | 6 Months

Hayes turned 6 months on May 24th.

He is 17 lbs & 13 oz. About 60th percentile across the board.

I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone by & how much he has changed. Every single day, I somehow love him more. Even on hard days, where I feel like I’m being challenged as a mother, it is so easy to find reasons to be happy & grateful.

We lucked out with having such a happy, content boy. He’s easy to please & loves life, on most days. This month, we have had some harder nights. Teething, sleep regression, growth spurts, etc. It all seemed to hit at once. But we’ve also reached some amazing milestones.

  1. We have teeth! He doesn’t show them off much, but when he does, I can’t help but giggle. Luckily, he hasn’t run any fevers, and we can easily distract him from the discomfort with toys & his jumper. He does slobber like CRAZY, but that’s to be expected.
  2. This month, he learned how to effectively roll over. (Not just by accident 🙂 ) The other day, I left him on the floor for about 30 seconds to run upstairs. He had rolled onto his tummy, turned 90 degrees and somehow scooted his legs all the way under the couch. I think we’re going to need to do a little more baby proofing of the house here pretty quick.
  3. As of just a few days ago, he is sitting up on his own without support. He’s grabbing & transferring toys, even while sitting.

One of our favorite things about Hayes is his sensitive personality. He seems really emotionally aware of different environments. I was having a “moment” one day & was rocking him to sleep for his nap. I was crying & he slowly just reached his hand up & rested it on my cheek. Like I said, even in my hardest moments, it’s easy to find reasons to somehow love him a little more than I already do & find joy.

He looks at his momma for approval of certain situations & loves most everyone he comes in contact with, especially other little faces.

Hayes LOVES jumping….endlessly! He jumps & jumps, regardless of what he is doing. Eating, cuddling, laying in his rock & play, or in his jumper. The kid is always moving. There is one thing that does get him to stop though, & that is Toy Story (1, 2 or 3). We don’t know why it is just Toy Story, we’ve tried plenty of other movies. But some days, he’ll just lounge back in his jumper & watch them straight. I think I know the theme of his first birthday party 🙂

I don’t know how we got so lucky. He is absolute perfection.
