Sycamore Leaf Raking Extravaganza

I’ve always loved the 40+ year old sycamore tree in my parents yard. During the summer it looms over the yard & gives shade for days. Sadly, when it starts to drop it’s leaves, my love for this dang tree dissipates. This year, I sat out of the festivities (thank you 3rd trimester 😀 ), so I documented the “fun”.

All of the leaves haven’t even fallen off the tree yet & that massive pile + the front yard leaves filled 28…YES TWENTY EIGHT… 55 gallon bags. What the what?!

At least the kids had fun 🙂

Wreck-It Ralph

I’ve never been a huge fan of Halloween. I think it’s mostly due to my love for Thanksgiving & Christmas. The second I see a leaf change color, I automatically jump to prepping for Christmas. Sue me.

What I’m hoping is that the more children we have & the older they get, the more excited I’ll get for family traditions like I had when I was a little girl. I may have lost my love for getting dressed up, but I will never forget picking out pumpkins at a tiny, family patch in Draper, or carving pumpkins at the table while sipping apple cider, or watching It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. & Most of all, I won’t forget trick or treating in my childhood neighborhood, bringing home our pillowcases full of candy & spending hours separating & comparing stashes with my siblings & cousins.

Those are the memories I love.

This year, Hayes also didn’t care much about Halloween or dressing up for that matter. So we chose the only costume that made sense.

Wreck-It Ralph.

Hayes is our little wrecking ball. He can destroy a room in a total of 2 seconds. Love the little turd so dang much, but he wears. us. OUT!

Aaaaanyway… Enough rambling…

Happy Halloween 🙂

Fireworks, Food + Family

Our 4th was perfection. We ate delicious food at our Uncle Bret’s house & went to the West Jordan fireworks. A friend saved us a spot right underneath the action & it was beautiful.

Hayes spent the majority of the time throwing anything he could find while he was “trapped” in his stroller. He was relatively unfazed by the fireworks & would glance every few booms or so. He cracks me up.

Pie & Beer Day

Our July 24th weekend was eventful.

First, Hayesers hit 8 months old on the 24th. (craziness!) His 8 month photos are to come!

I taught a lesson in Relief Society.

We had a bbq with Clint’s side of the family on Sunday, which is always a blast. I’m so blessed to have married into such a wonderful family where I feel right at home.

During 2015, 8, YES I SAID EIGHT, babies were born on Clint’s side. All within 9 months of each other. It’s so fun to get them all together.

Here are 5 of the 8.

On Monday morning, my mom made the impossible decision to take our 14 year-old lab, Scout, to the vet. She was very old & had some serious health issues that were really effecting her happiness. It was really hard to see her in those last final days & we’re happy & relieved to know she is no longer in pain. My heart aches for my parents & I miss Scouty like nobody’s business.

Our Scout in her glory days.

Lastly, on Monday, we celebrated Pioneer (Pie & Beer) Day with my family. We downed way too many burgers, drank far too much root beer, & barely had the stomach to eat the amazing homemade pies.

We let the kiddos swim for a bit & we managed to snag some shots of them lovin’ on each other 🙂
