A couple years ago, we decided that every year we would make it out to Clint’s parents. No matter what. It’s our favorite place to kick back, relax, enjoy our family & fish, fish, fish!
Hayes loved exploring & having (mostly) free reign on the farm.
It’s hard to be home, but it was an amazing 2 weeks that we will never forget.
BEWARE: So much Hayes cuteness ahead.

The first catch of the trip.

Trying to eat the lures hanging off the back of the mule. Dumb goats đ

His latest obsession is holding the iPad while he watches his shows. Oh, & giving Moana kisses.

We had the chance to celebrate our anniversary this year & decided to take advantage of a full day of babysitting. Missouri has some incredible LDS church history sites. A couple years back, we drove to Nauvoo, which was incredible.
This year, we went to the Independence Missouri Visitors Center. We got a personal tour from one of the cutest, sweetest Sister’s there & learned about why settlers came to Independence & why the saints were prosecuted & driven out of the area.
Our favorite experience of the day was watching two new videos released. The first was from the perspective of Oliver Cowdery, who assisted in scribing the translation of the Book of Mormon. The second was David Whitmer, one of the witnesses of the gold plates & whose family was essential to continuing the translation. I left the visitors center so spiritually rejuvenated & so grateful for the founders of this incredible church that gives so much hope in such a dark world.

This room was lined with photographs from 1907 of the Independence area.

Two of three of the only photos you’ll see of me this trip… (Ooops!)

He wouldn’t take his eyes off the lens, especially when the shutter went off. I’m not complaining đ

While the boys fish, we explore & entertain.

One of our favorite burger joints in Cole Camp, Missouri.

Roasting some flamin’ hot shmoes with the fam!

I can’t even with their cuteness.
Hayes “likes” the mule. I put that in quotes, because it’s more like this battle between enjoyment & trying not to be mad about the wind on his face. It’s no surprise that he would prefer to just climb on it instead.

Sunrise the morning we left. It was a noiseless morning, except for the goats thinking I was bringing them breakfast. A thick fog lined the horizon, the sun on the verge of filling the sky. I couldn’t resist getting my camera out one last time.
