When Clint told me his work was taking us to Seattle this year, I was beyond excited! We’ve always wanted to go, but haven’t been able to make it happen. You see, Clint grew up outside of Seattle in Gig Harbor & he hasn’t been back since he was 11, so going back & having the chance to explore his childhood neighborhood was incredible.
We had SO much food. Really… Too many calories to count, but totally worth it. Some of our favorites were:
- Crepe de France in Pike Place
- Donuts from the Daily Dozen, also at Pike Place
- Beecher’s mac n cheese
- Ivar’s Acres of Clams (YUM)
- Clam chowder at the Crab Pot

We were sad to miss the throwing of fish, but man, it was pretty cool to see such a huge market of fresh fish, goods & trinkets.

The aquarium was awesome, but to be completely honest, not totally worth what you spend. We learned a lot about salmon, their migration patterns & the Puget Sound. The sea otters were huge & spent the entire time cleaning themselves. HA!

This look on his face is “will you put that damn camera down & just walk with me, please?” Sorry, babe. You know what I was when you married me 😀

The BEST mini donuts we’ve ever had! We may or may not have stopped here every day.

One night, we went to dinner at Hamanasu, a Japanese sushi bar & hibachi grill across the street form our hotel. SO GOOD.
Clint has been dreaming of this crepe restaurant for years. It lived up to our high expectations. Crepes are annoying to make, I’ll pay $15 any day for someone to make them & make them THIS good! Clint went for sweet (nutella, strawberries & bananas), while I went for savory (a simple ham & swiss).

I’ve been with Clint for almost 7 years, & I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen him nerd out this hard. Star Trek is life.

Had to take a photo of the D&D display for my nerdy siblings…because we’re awesome 🙂

We rode the ferry to Bremerton, just one hour from Seattle, & had the chance to visit our friends, Will & Emily Petty. We haven’t seen them in several years & it was so fun to catch up! Will works at the Naval Shipyard, so we got a personal tour of the shipyard, Bremerton & a gorgeous, lush dock in Illahee State Park.

Is this not the dreamiest thing you’ve ever seen?!

We were also lucky enough to have time to see Clint’s childhood home & the beauty that is Gig Harbor. Oh, & eat the most unbelievably delicious burger I have EVER had.

Clint was in heaven reliving his childhood memories of swimming in lakes, exploring the woods near his home & reeking havoc with his friends.

We caught the ferry back to the city & had one last night to explore the city. We had dinner full of laughs & seafood with Clint’s company at Ivar’s Acres of Clams right on the pier.

Our last morning in Seattle was very bittersweet. The sun came out on our way to the airport for the second time during our entire 5 days there.

As we were descending into Salt Lake City, I couldn’t believe how gorgeous the Great Salt Lake looked at dusk. It was good to be home.
